To Apply for Free Legal Help

STEP 1:

Make sure you meet the initial criteria to qualify for the Pro Bono Program.

a. You must live in Leon County, or live in the Second Circuit and have a Leon County case.
b. Your case/legal issue is one in which our office will handle as stated below:

  • Bankruptcy
  • Discrimination (No contingency fee cases)
  • Employment Issues
  • Landlord/Tenant Issues
  • Money Disputes Over Purchases
  • Property Disputes
  • Wills
  • Family Law Issues: Adoption, Child Custody/Visitation, Child Support Modification, Divorce, Guardianship, Paternity

STEP 2:

Complete and submit the Legal Aid application.

The Legal Aid Application must be completed in full. Our office will not accept nor review partially completed applications.

Completed applications can be scanned and emailed, or mailed or hand-delivered to the address below. The office does not have a fax.

STEP 3:

Follow up.

Because of the number of applications we receive, please follow up with a phone call to 222-3292, ext. 2 to make sure yours was received and reviewed. We understand the importance of your legal issue/case, but we ask for your patience as the demand unfortunately exceeds the number of volunteers available.

STEP 4:

Bring the following to your appointment.

You should bring information about the income and expenses of everyone living in the household, any court papers, leases, or contracts that relate to your legal matter. Also, please bring the names and addresses of the people involved with your problem.
